How does AI impact democratic elections, and what steps can we take to prevent or mitigate negative effects?
In this episode, we’re joined by Niels Nagelhus Schia, a Norwegian research professor at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, where he specializes in the intersection of technology and international relations. In addition to leading the Security and Defense Research Group and co-managing the center's Technology Research Center, Schia has chaired the Norwegian Expert Group on AI, Democracy, and Elections (2024-2025)
The expert group recently finalized its report, Artificial Intelligence and Democratic Elections – International Experiences and National Recommendations (Linked here) and we’re thrilled to sit down with Mr. Schia to discuss their key findings and recommendations.
Join us for a thought-provoking conversation on how AI is shaping democratic elections, especially in the context of the high-stakes "super election year" of 2024.
Hosted by Kim Jacqueline Sliper and consul general Gry Rabe Henriksen
